Mayo General Hospital is a hospital situated in Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland, serving County Mayo. The emergency department (A&E) has an attendance of 35,000 patients per year. Mayo General Hospital has a total of 306 inpatient beds across the specialities of general surgery, general medicine, orthopaedics, gynaecology, paediatrics, intensive/coronary care, obstetrics, radiology, pathology, anaesthetics, palliative care and emergency medicine. Mayo Medical Academy developed in partnership with NUI Galway and GMIT for training of doctors. Centre of Nurse and Midwifery Education at GMIT Castlebar. ==Notable patients== Eithne Kenny, mother of Taoiseach Enda Kenny and wife of Henry Kenny, died here at the age of 93 on 26 November 2011.
